The Heat Is On!

Meet Michelle Duster, the Great-Granddaughter of Ida B. Wells

Well, you can imagine how excited I am! Not only is Ida B. Wells one of my sheroes, but Michelle and I have the very same goals as writers! We'll be talking about how to write the wrongs by examining the role of African American female writers past and present.

Writer Michelle Duster, who compiled and edited Ida: In Her Own Words and Ida From Abroad,  shares insights about her great-grandmother's legacy as well as her personal goals as a writer, one of which is "to highlight the positive contributions African American women have made to the United States." Duster is also one of the co-founders of MuseWrite, a group of professional writers who are focused on creating a connection between writers and the community.

Thanks, Karen! I'm really looking forward to speaking with her. I feel so much of her great-grandmother's energy coming from her. Like us, she's trying to make the world a better place via her writing. Please call in if you can.
